Does your street work for you?

Upload a street photo. StreetSmart helps you see what’s working, what’s missing and how your street affects your safety, freedom and health.

How it works

Step One

Snap a photo, get instant insights

Upload a photo and StreetSmart gives you instant feedback. Want safer crossings? More shade? We help you see what's working, and what's not.

Step Two

Tell us how this place makes you feel

Do you feel safe here? Comfortable? Rushed? Your answers capture what no map can: the real experience of being there.

Step Three

Turn your experience into evidence

StreetSmart translates your experience into government-speak to help your city make your street work better for you.

Our Vision

Every street is a set of political choices. StreetSmart exists to make those choices visible to the people who live with them every day.

A lively neighbourhood street lined with shops, cafés and greenery, with people walking and a scooter passing by.

Why StreetSmart?

Your street shapes more than you might think. It affects how hot it gets in summer, where rainwater goes, whether children can move around independently, and whether walking, wheeling or waiting feels safe and comfortable.

Yet most streets are still designed mainly around traffic and parking. That choice affects daily life in ways we've largely stopped noticing.

Most people sense when something is wrong with their street. They just don't have the language or the data to name it. StreetSmart gives them both.

By combining street photos with lived experience, we help people read what their street is really built for, and build the evidence cities need before they design, invest or decide.

Meet the people behind StreetSmart

Reena Mahajan

Founder & CEO

Reena is an urban planner, architect and founder of Studio DiverCity, an independent urban design consultancy, with over 20 years of experience across Europe, Latin America, South Asia and Africa. While raising a child in Montevideo, the everyday limits of car-dominated streets became impossible to ignore. She ran the #MontevideoPacificada campaign, pushing for change until it came: safer crossings, new bike lanes, and a shift in how the city talked about its streets. Now based in Paris, she is building StreetSmart from the same conviction: that people should not have to be planners to understand, question and change the streets they live with every day.

Steven Cramer

Founding Fractional CTO

Steven is a technology and operations leader with nearly a decade at a large e-commerce company and an MBA from Chicago Booth. A dedicated pedestrian, cyclist, and hiker, he joined StreetSmart out of a conviction that streets should be built for people, not just cars. He designed and built StreetSmart's initial AI platform, and now serves as an advisor.

Team

StreetSmart’s team has grown through the Climatebase Fellowship and beyond. We’re a multidisciplinary group of urban planners, technologists, designers and researchers united by one conviction: the streets outside our doors should support everyday life.
